It’s been a few years since we’ve seen a new panel release from Red Light Rising, but finally, they’ve entered the next-gen arena with their latest device—the Advantage 900 2.0.
This new red light therapy panel brings a much-needed refresh to their lineup, featuring some exciting upgrades. But how does it compare to the big names currently dominating the market?
Let’s examine what’s new, how it performs, and whether this panel is worth your investment.
What’s New in the 2.0 Generation?
First things first—yes, there’s finally a touchscreen. And it’s a good one: responsive, clean, and easy to use. You’ll also find five different wavelengths packed into this single unit, making it one of the more versatile panels available today.

The Advantage 900 2.0 has also adopted a more industry-standard size. It’s wider and slightly shorter than Red Light Rising’s previous models. The new layout measures 91 cm in height by 30 cm in width, and the 900 model houses 300 LEDs. There’s also a smaller version, the Advantage 450, which is half the size and contains 150 LEDs.
Another smart upgrade? Six built-in preset modes:
- Joint Care
- Face and Eye
- Sleep
- Skin
- Workout
Each mode has its own recommended duration, intensity, and distance from the panel. This thoughtful feature is helpful for beginners who want guidance on how far to stand and how long to use it for different outcomes.

Wavelengths Breakdown
Red Light Rising has followed in the footsteps of Platinum LED’s Biomax series with their wavelength blend. You’re getting a mix of:
However, most of the power is concentrated at 660 and 850nm, which are the classic workhorse wavelengths for red light therapy. There’s no blue and no 1060nm, which we’re starting to see in other newer panels.
Wavelength Testing
Using the spectrometer, I tested the panel to determine its actual performance in the real world.
Unsurprisingly, the 660nm wavelength shows a massive peak, followed by the 850nm, just as the spec sheet claims. The 630nm, 810nm, and 830nm wavelengths are also present, although less dominant.

Interestingly, the 850nm peak came in slightly higher than listed—closer to 858 nm—which isn’t uncommon in real-world testing. As far as the spectrum goes, things stacked up just as they were advertised. There are no red flags there.
Power Output Testing
Let’s head over to Light Therapy Insiders to pull up the Shopping Tool and compare this panel to the competition.
The peak power I recorded was 106 mW/cm², and the average across 9 measurement points was 75 mW/cm². Red Light Rising lists 77.6 mW/cm² on their website, and honestly, those numbers are close enough that I’m impressed with the accuracy. We often encounter discrepancies in published specifications, so the alignment here is refreshing.
The total power output is 163 watts, which is excellent at a value of $6.20 per watt.

Where It Ranks
Looking at where the Advantage 900 2.0 sits in the wall panel rankings on the Shopping Tool:
- 13th place by average irradiance (should be 12th—there’s a panel above that needs removing)
- 7th place for total power output
And this is out of 60+ panels. It’s a strong showing. Some of the top players like the Platinum Biomax sit in the 90s for irradiance, so while it’s not #1, this is still respectable power for a modern panel.

Price and Shipping
Let’s talk money. The retail price is $1,220 USD, but you can use the discount code ALEX to get 10% off. That brings it down to $1,110 USD, or about GBP 930, depending on the exchange rate.
Now, here’s the catch: Red Light Rising only ships within the UK and Europe. So if you’re in the US, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, you’re out of luck unless you want to arrange expensive third-party shipping.
That said, if you’re local, free shipping and taxes are included, making the price point even more attractive for European buyers.
Value for Money
With the price and power output known, we can calculate the value figure:
$6.20 per watt of therapeutic red light, which ranks it 2nd best among all panels in the database.
Only an older Amazon/Alibaba panel beats it—and that one may not even exist anymore. This is a standout result, especially when you consider it’s competing against panels with 2x to 4x the number of LEDs in the body panel category. It still holds 5th place in value there.

What’s in the Box?
The standard inclusions:
- Door hanging hook
- Protective goggles
- Well-printed instruction manual
- New rechargeable remote control
The remote is simple and easy to use. It integrates all the preset modes so you can toggle directly into “joint care” or “skin” mode with a single click.
You can buy stands that are horizontal, vertical, or motorized, but the prices are a bit steep compared to what other brands charge.
Warranty-wise, you’re covered with a 3-year warranty and a 100-day return window. As always, Red Light Rising shines in post-sale support. The owners will often personally contact you if you have any issues, which speaks volumes about their customer service.

What I Liked
Red Light Rising has been around for a long time. I’ve met the founders. Some of my earliest reviews were with their original panels—the old “Full Stack,” if I recall correctly. These guys know what they’re doing and genuinely care about the customer experience.
Now, onto the product:
- Touchscreen control is fantastic—responsive, high-resolution, and easy to navigate.
- Preset modes are well thought-out, with included distance recommendations—something few brands provide.
- Accurate power readings—their published numbers were nearly spot-on with my real-world tests.
- Very competitive price for the performance you’re getting.
- And of course, excellent support from a UK-based team if you're in Europe.

What I Didn’t Like
It’s not all sunshine and photobiomodulation. A few things stood out:
- Limited shipping – No option for buyers outside the UK/EU unless you make special arrangements.
- Wavelength dominance – There is too much emphasis on 660 and 850 nm, while other wavelengths, like 810, are underrepresented.
- Uneven LED distribution – My test revealed high and low hot spots, with 106 mW/cm² values in one area and 55 mW/cm² in another. Ideally, power distribution should be more consistent.
- No app – Although it's not a dealbreaker, it lacks a feature many top-tier panels now include.
- No custom presets - You can dim the red/near-infrared lights, but can’t create and save your protocols.
- No pulsing – Some users may miss this feature.
- Auto screen-off—After about a minute, the display goes dark during a session. You have to tap it to check the time remaining, which can be annoying mid-session.

Final Verdict
So, what’s the bottom line?
The Advantage 900 2.0 is a solid upgrade. It’s not the most feature-rich or powerful panel on the market, but for UK and European users looking for a quality, well-priced, and thoughtfully designed device, this panel delivers.
It’s ideal for improving skin health, wound healing, muscle recovery, and more. The power output is more than sufficient, the wavelengths are science-backed, and the build quality is right on par with the premium brands.
Comparison to the Competition
Let’s wrap with a quick comparison:
- Platinum Biomax 900— includes seven wavelengths (including blue and 1060 nm), app control, voice control, and more power—but it’s expensive, and shipping can be a pain for UK/EU buyers.
- BlockBlueLight Mega 4.0, and Rojo Refine 900 – Same size, same five wavelengths, but offer more balanced spectral output, especially across the 630 and 810nm range. This helps avoid the over-dominance of 660/850 you get with Red Light Rising.
If even spectral distribution is a priority for you, the Block Blue Light or Rojo panels might edge ahead.
But if you're after a reliable, affordable, and feature-packed panel from a UK-based brand you can trust, the Red Light Rising Advantage 900 2.0 is well worth considering.
