Best Light Therapy Supplements to Boost Health Effects!

In this blog post, I'll cover some of the most important supplements to be using together with red light therapy, for maximizing health benefits!

Best Light Therapy Supplements to Boost Health Effects!

Introduction

If you use red light therapy often or plan to start, I recommend five supplements. These supplements will enhance the benefits of red light therapy, protect against side effects and overdosing, and ensure optimal body function.

I will share the supplement stacks I use for red light therapy and the one designed for my five-year-old son under the guidance of Dr. Randy Beck. Dr. Beck, an expert in the field, has tailored a supplement stack for my son, who is also undergoing laser red light therapy on his head. Dr. Randy Beck, an expert in the field, tailored this stack for children who can’t take capsules, ensuring safety and effectiveness.

Red light therapy is highly effective because it stimulates ATP production, which is the cell’s raw energy form. With more ATP, cells perform better and can perform their functions longer. This includes mechanical energy, movement, cell repair, and fighting off illnesses. Improved cell performance leads to better overall health and quality of life and various benefits, such as wound healing, injury recovery, enhanced sports performance, and anti-aging effects.

ATP production

The 1st Supplement: B Vitamin Complex.

B vitamins are essential for energy metabolism and help with ATP production. They’re inexpensive, safe, and easy to access. Personally, I like Thorn products, so I use their B complex vitamin. My son uses dissolvable capsules from Superior Source. They work well and have a great taste.

With increased ATP production, you can also get an increase in free radicals or reactive oxygen species. Some of this is good; too much is not great. Just like weight training, you want to work the muscles, load the joints, load the bone, stress the nervous system, and then you rest and recover because there’s a lot of damage and a lot of recovery. You will do much damage if you train too hard and for too long. This stress load is just simply too high.

Red light therapy is similar to the weightlifting approach. It’s important to start slowly and avoid overdoing it. Red light therapy leads to an accumulation of reactive oxygen species, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, this might explain the numerous benefits of red light therapy and training. However, it’s advisable to include high-quality antioxidants in your supplement stack to manage the potential excess of free radicals.

The 2nd Supplement: Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a widely known supplement that most of you have probably taken. It’s inexpensive, and I recommend it. Regarding my personal stack, I opt for a budget-friendly Californian Gold vitamin C tablet. My son uses Doctor's Best Vitamin C gummies, and I sometimes have them.

The 3nd Supplement: CoQ10

CoQ10 is a powerful supplement with unique properties that benefit cardiovascular health. It is widely available but slightly more expensive. I recommend two CoQ10 products: Thorne CoQ10 and Qualia Life. Personally, I have been using Qualia Life for over six years. It’s my daily multivitamin, containing CoQ10, PQQ, and other beneficial supplements.

My son uses Doctor's Best, CoQ10 Gummies.

The 4th supplement: Glutathione

Glutathione does an excellent job of absorbing non-stable ions. Its downside is that it is expensive but very potent.

There are many types of glutathione. Some products are inferior and not well absorbed. If you’re looking for glutathione and want to go all in, consider the Thorne glutathione SR. It is expensive, so depending on your budget, you may want to use it when just starting with red light therapy.

💡
I only use glutathione when I’m traveling or when my stress load is really, really high.

My son uses Clinical Glutathione, which is a slow-melt tablet. It is even more expensive than the Thorne product, but it was the only glutathione product I could find suitable for a five-year-old.

The 5th Supplement: Fish Oil

Dr. Beck recommended fish oil. He states that if you’re stimulating nerve growth, you need to grow axons, and fish oils or the omega-3s from fish oils are very helpful here. They help with the nerve coverings, also known as myelin sheath, and there’s also another entire world of benefits from omega-3s.

Myelin sheath

My go-to product is the Thorne liquid product or the Carlson Labs liquid product, depending on what’s available when I place my order. I take that off a teaspoon. However, Thorne also does have some good high-quality capsules.

I should also mention that Thorne makes an omega-3 capsule with CoQ10 in it, so you could purchase that and save yourself one extra bottle of supplements.

I use the Carlson Labs’ fish oil kids' version for my son; it’s simply flavored fish oil. My kids love orange and lemon flavors, and I’ve used them myself. If you purchase this for the kids, you could use it for yourself.

Best Time To Take Supplements

Typically, I take my supplements in the morning with food. Some may argue that it’s better to take the antioxidants around the time of your red light therapy session. I don’t do this because I use my red light therapy panels before I train, so I don’t want antioxidants in my bloodstream because I actually want that stress effect, and then later on, I want to recover.

If you’ve seen my interview with Dr. Beck, he recommends using these supplements for a week or so before beginning with red light therapy.  Dr. Beck specializes in brain health, which is why my son is working with him. Dr. Beck said these supplements will help even if you’re just using red light therapy for the skin. If you have a low-powered device, maybe a mask or something like that, these supplements are still going to be beneficial.

Where to Purchase:

If you want to buy any of these supplements, I’ve made it easy. Check out my list called “My Red Light Therapy Stack” for adults and children on iherb.com, which I created. I’ve been ordering supplements from this website for about 10 years. I have a referral code, bhs654. If you use my code, you will save 5% on your order, and I get a small commission. You can also order from Amazon, Thorne, or your local supplement store.

If you want the Qualia product, you’ll have to order directly through Neurohacker. Code FERGUS saves! They also have a fantastic skin product, so if you use red light therapy for skin benefits, check it out. They also make a sleep product and a mind product. I’ve reviewed some of them on my other website, alexfergus.com.

In Closing:

I have discussed the essential supplements. These supplements have been proven effective and are widely known to be beneficial. The list I shared was recommended by Dr. Randy Beck, a neuroscientist specializing in complex brain conditions.

I know there are other supplements, including methylene blue, though I don’t know if that’s technically a supplement. I have also seen a few other supplements mentioned in our Facebook community. I need to do more research on these supplements before I can give you my thoughts.
