MitoRed Light MitoPRO 1500+ v2 Review: Lab-Tested Against 10 Rival Panels (2026)

Is the MitoPRO 1500+ v2 worth it? I had MitoRed Light's most popular full-body panel lab-tested against 10 rivals. It placed 6th, with red-rich, rock-steady light at a lower price.

Introduction

The MitoPRO 1500+ is MitoRed Light's most popular full-body panel: four wavelengths, three simple modes and a price well below most premium panels. I put the v2 through the same independent lab tests as the 10 other panels in my 2026 panel comparison.

It finished 6th of 11 with 44.5 points, just 0.25 behind the Rouge G5, and it was the best of MitoRed Light's three panels in the test. Below, you'll find the lab's own measurements, including a heat map of its light, its spectrum and its output over a full session, plus how it compares with the MitoPRO 1500X and its rivals.

💡
I’m affiliated with every brand in this review, which means I may earn a commission if you make a purchase through my links or use the discount codes provided. MitoRed Light provided the 1500+ v2 free of charge and, like every brand in my 2026 test, paid LightLab International for its panel’s lab testing. The scores come from the same lab tests and scoring system I used for all 11 panels, and all opinions are my own. This is not medical advice.

🏆 Quick Answer: Is the MitoRed Light MitoPRO 1500+ v2 Worth It?

Score: 44.5 out of 100, 6th of 11 in my 2026 panel test.

The 1500+ v2 is simple, steady and red-rich: 58.1% of its light is red, and its output barely moved over 20 minutes. But its strong light is concentrated in a 12-inch-wide strip, and it has almost no adjustability. At $1,265 delivered, it was the second-cheapest panel in the test.

  • Best for: skin-focused buyers who want a red-rich panel without premium pricing, and anyone who prefers simple, set-and-forget controls.
  • Not ideal for: people who want to fine-tune their sessions (there's no dimming) or one panel that covers the whole body evenly.
  • Price when tested: $1,265 delivered to Austin, Texas, after the 5% discount through my link, with shipping and tax included.
  • Stronger choices: the BestQool Pro300 (my Best Value pick, $810) if budget matters most, or the PlatinumLED BioMax Pro Ultra (1st, 63.25 points, $1,610) for much more light and control.

How I Tested the MitoRed Light MitoPRO 1500+ v2

The 1500+ v2 went through exactly the same process as all 11 panels in my 2026 panel comparison, so its scores sit directly beside theirs.

  • Independent lab measurements. LightLab International, a photometric lab in Allentown, Pennsylvania, ran three tests in September 2026: total light output and spectrum in a 2-metre integrating sphere, output over 20 minutes, and an irradiance map at 12 inches measured every 2 inches (test report LLIA003081-002).
  • Why 12 inches. I now test at 12 inches rather than 6, because readings taken close to the LEDs overstate how evenly a panel treats your body. Here's why.
  • Nine scored rounds, 100 points. Coverage (35), average irradiance (5), uniformity (10), output stability (5), wavelengths (5), red-to-near-infrared balance (5), ease of use (15), extras such as warranty, returns, certifications, noise and expandability (10), and price (10).

Each brand, including MitoRed Light, paid LightLab for its own panel’s testing and provided its panel free of charge. The 1500+ v2's scores use exactly the same lab data and scoring as every other panel.

Lab Results: How the MitoRed Light MitoPRO 1500+ v2 Performed

Coverage and Power at 12 Inches

Across the standard 24 × 30 in treatment area, the 1500+ v2 averaged 28.7 mW/cm² (=6th of 11 for average irradiance), and 42.2% of the area got at least 30 mW/cm² (7th for coverage).

The 1500+ v2's light at 12 inches, mapped from the lab's 403 measurements

The heat map shows a strong strip roughly as wide as the 12-inch panel. Outside it, the light falls away quickly, so across a full 24 × 60 in body area it averaged 17.0 mW/cm².

Here's how the light holds up as the treatment area grows:

Evenness

Overall uniformity (average ÷ peak across the 24 × 30 in area) was 40.1%, =8th of 11. Over a face-sized area at the centre, the light ranged from 62.5 to 70.3 mW/cm², varying by 3.6%. Within its strip the light is very consistent, which suits face and targeted sessions.

Output Over a Session

After 20 minutes the 1500+ v2 still delivered 97.4% of its starting output, =1st of 11 for stability (5 of 5 points). Red held at 96.3% and near-infrared at 98.4%.

Line chart of MitoRed Light MitoPRO 1500+ v2 irradiance over 20 minutes at 12 inches: total 68.5 to 66.7 mW/cm², red 38.1 to 36.7, near-infrared 30.4 to 29.9

It has no 810 nm LEDs, but the edge of its 830 nm output still reached 0.54 W/nm at 810 nm, just enough to count. There's no 1060 nm output.

Red vs. Near-Infrared Balance

58.1% of the 1500+ v2's light is red (600–780 nm) and 41.9% near-infrared (780–1100 nm). It earned 4.5 of 5 points: slightly red-heavy rather than an even split, but with more red light than most panels in the test. Red is the range most studied for skin, so this suits skin-first buyers. You can also run red only or near-infrared only.

💡
My take on the lab results: the 1500+ v2 does the basics very well: red-rich, steady and efficient, with every core wavelength covered. What it lacks is reach. Its strong light sits in a narrow strip, so you'll treat one area at a time.

Using the MitoRed Light MitoPRO 1500+ v2

It scored 6 of 15 for ease of use (=9th): full marks for the manual and support (live chat and a phone line), 1 point for the remote and 1 for stands, but none for smart modes or adjustable output.

A Starting Protocol

These starting points are based on what the research suggests for skin and on the lab's measurements at 12 inches.

  • Face and skin: aim for about 5–9 J/cm². At 12 inches the 1500+ v2 delivers about 65 mW/cm² over the face with every wavelength on, so that dose takes roughly 1.3 to 2.3 minutes.
  • Joints, muscles and recovery: 5–10 minutes per area at 12 inches. My dosing chart shows the ranges studies have used.
  • Eyes: wear eye protection. Near-infrared is invisible, and these panels are bright. More in my eye safety guide.

MitoRed Light MitoPRO 1500+ v2 FAQ

Is the MitoPRO 1500+ v2 worth it?

If you want simple, red-rich light at a lower price, yes. It placed 6th of 11 in my 2026 lab test and was the best of MitoRed Light's three panels. If you want more coverage and control, the BioMax Pro Ultra won and costs $345 more.

Should I buy the MitoPRO 1500+ v2 or the 1500X?

For most people, the 1500+ v2. It scored a point higher, delivered more light in my test area with more red, held its output steadier, and costs $70 less. Choose the 1500X if you want a touchscreen, app control and adjustable intensity.

Is the MitoPRO 1500+ v2 good for skin?

Yes. 58.1% of its light is red. For the face at 12 inches, it delivers about 65 mW/cm², so a 5–9 J/cm² dose takes roughly 1¼ to 2¼ minutes with both modes on, or around 2 to 4 minutes in red-only mode.

Can I adjust the brightness?

No. You choose red, near-infrared or both, and set the timer. To reduce the dose, step back or shorten the session.

Does it come with a stand?

No. MitoRed Light sells a floor stand for single panels and a universal stand for arrays. It can also hang from a door.

What's the warranty and return policy?

Three years, with 60-day returns and free US shipping.

Is there a MitoRed Light discount?

Yes. My link takes 5% off sitewide. See my discount codes page for other brands.

Final Thoughts

The MitoPRO 1500+ v2 is a no-fuss panel that does the fundamentals well: red-rich, steady, efficient light with every core wavelength covered, at the second-lowest price in my test.

It's held back by a narrow strong zone and almost no adjustability. If you treat one area at a time and want red light for your skin, it's good value. If you want more reach and control, spend more on the BioMax Pro Ultra.

Score: 44.5 out of 100, 6th of 11 in my 2026 panel test.
